UNBLOCKED COUNSELING
MEET BILL
Being a therapist is not my first job. Prior to my work as a therapist, I spent ten years working as a lawyer. Over the course of my legal career, I saw just how easily career aspirations and work could harm individuals and relationships. I also saw how careers could lead people to feeling blocked and stuck on a path that was unfulfilling. I watched friends and colleagues struggle with anxiety, depression, loneliness, substance use issues, and disconnection in their relationships. As I explored my own experiences in therapy and sat with my friends while they worked towards their own understanding, I realized that I wanted to be a part of other's change and growth towards a more fulfilling life.
I initially thought I only wanted to work with individuals, but through my time in graduate school, internship and my time in a group practice, I realized that I love working with relationships as well. Humans are relational creatures and helping couples create more meaning and connection can build both a more meaningful relationship and a more fulfilling individual life.
