FAQ
WILL MY HEALTH INSURANCE COVER MY INDIVIDUAL THERAPY?
I am not in network for any health insurance companies. What that means is that for individuals, I am an out of network provider. Your insurance plan may offer reimbursement for out-of-network benefits. Your specific plan will determine whether and/or how much you will be reimbursed for our work together. On a practical level, how this works is that you pay out of pocket for our sessions at the time we meet and then I provide a superbill at the end of the month and you submit that to your insurance for reimbursement.
How do I figure out if I have out of network coverage?
You will need to contact your insurance company to inquire about out-of-network coverage. You can ask the following questions:
-
Do I have out-of-network benefits for mental health services provided via telehealth or only in-person?
-
Do I have a deductible? Has it been met?
-
Is there a maximum reimbursement amount for the year?
-
How many sessions per year does my plan cover?
-
Does my coverage include Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists?
-
How much does my insurance plan reimburse for an out-of-network provider?
-
How do I submit receipts for reimbursement?
Will My Health Insurance Cover My Couples Therapy?
Generally speaking, it is exceedingly rare for health insurance to cover relationship therapy, regardless of how great your plan is or even what your insurance company may have told you. I dislike that insurance company's take this position because so much growth and change on the individual level happens in couples therapy and work on the relationship can prove beneficial for individual anxiety, depression, and even PTSD.
A practice that I was part of in Seattle has an excellent explanation of this issue and I encourage you to read it over if you have more questions: https://www.claritycounselingseattle.com/financial-info
After reading through the above link, I hope you can understand why I do not offer superbills for couples/relational work as this can create a risk of insurance fraud.
HOW DO I SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT?
Please start by reaching out to me via the contact page, email or by phone. We can then set up a free 15 minute introductory call to determine if we are a good fit and to determine if we can find time on our calendars that lines up for a recurring meeting.
HOW LONG WILL THE PROCESS TAKE?
Change often takes time, but you get to choose how long you'd like to be in therapy. My goal is to help you make the changes you want to make in your individual or relational life. How long that takes varies based on the circumstances.
